Summer Design Intern

This is a full-time summer internship that takes place between June and August. Location: Jersey City, NJ.

Description: Forbes is seeking a Design Intern to help our Front-End Design team building and maintaining the world’s #1 business news site.  You’ll work closely with our Product, Editorial & Technology teams to create the user experience connecting readers to Forbes content across mobile, tablet and desktop. You’ll be helping to design the platform that powers publishing for more than 1,500 writers and 60 million monthly readers.

Requirements:

  • Education includes studies in Graphic Design, Web Design, or Visual Communication.
  • A passion for strong, clean, usable design.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, InDesign).
  • Interest in designing for the web, mobile, and social media.
  • Diligent, detail-oriented, and able to follow direction well.

UI Design Intern (paid)

SoundCloud is the world’s leading social audio platform, allowing everyone to discover unique content anytime, anywhere. We enrich people’s lives through the shared love of sound. We’re looking for an intern to join our Product Design team for three months in New York City.

The UI Design Intern will assist in improving SoundCloud’s user interface design across devices, helping to communicate SoundCloud’s identity and values through visual language and interaction design.
Your responsibilities will include designing user interfaces for SoundCloud’s monetization initiatives, creating product templates, making illustrations and iconography, and maintaining SoundCloud’s Style Guide. You will work closely with researchers, product managers, developers, and other designers.

This internship is full-time paid and will last 3 months, preferably starting in June.

Unfortunately, as we cannot provide visa support for this position, we can only accept candidates eligible to work in the U.S.

About You

You are a designer who is self-taught or has scholarly (i.e. undergraduate, graduate, or bootcamp) experience with one or more of the following

  • User interface design
  • Product design
  • Web design
  • App design
  • Digital media

You’re a friendly, organized person with a meticulous eye. The misalignment of objects is one of your biggest pet peeves. You’re interested in finding ways to translate a brand’s identity into iconography, colors, type, and shapes within a user interface. Intern, Visual Communications Design (paid)

The intern will work with senior design staff on a variety of projects in and related to brand identity, across print, digital and interactive experiences. The individual should be creative, motivated, highly articulate and bring self-initiative to projects and daily routine. Candidates should have experience with InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Experience with motion and interaction design software such as AfterEffects is preferred. Their background should demonstrate facility across a range of media, including identity, print and interaction design.

Responsibilities Include

  • Participate in conceptualization and with assistance, develop preliminary concepts in to refined comprehensive design solutions
  • Individually and as part of a team, work on logo designs, visual systems, guidelines and presentations

Intern, Interaction and Motion Graphic Design (paid)

Lippincott is looking for a hands-on junior designer with strong animation, interaction and motion design skills to join our team. You will work as part of a broader design team to bring brand stories to life through animation and motion; UI and IA design The ideal candidate will be an excellent multi-disciplinary designer with a strong motion graphics focus. They must also be willing to work across other medium in a collaborative environment.

Job Purpose

    • Note that we work in InDesign for planning documentation, but are open to OmniGraffle and similar software
  • Familiar with Sketch
  • Basic knowledge of website functionality and mobile/tablet applications
  • Knowledge of UX design is a big plus (e.g. wireframes, site diagrams, research, etc.)
  • Knowledge of prototyping software such as InVision, Balsamiq, Proto.io, etc. is a big plus
  • Strong background in the graphic arts.
  • Ability to craft graphic elements, assets and visual treatments that work with responsive design systems
  • Ability to produce brand standards and style guides for interactive, user-centric products

GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERN (paid)

HBO 2016 Summer Intern: Creative Marketing – Design and Production

OVERALL SUMMARY:

HBO Design + Production is a diverse collective of artists, idea generators and problem solvers.

The Designer creates graphic applications for a variety of HBO/Cinemax print and digital collateral.

They assist in the creative process while producing final mechanicals for release. They have solid written

Must be able to work 35 hours / week in New York City.
