Our 2016 Summer Internship Program will run from June 13th – August 19th, 2016. This is a 10-week paid, full-time opportunity geared towards college students, recent grads, or currently pursuing a Master’s degree in a related field. ABC Broadcast Motion Graphics and Design Internship (NY) –Summer 2016

The ABC Broadcast Graphics and Design department creates dynamic visuals and on-air packaging for all ABC News programming and non-fiction special broadcasts, as well as clients ESPN on ABC, and ABC Daytime. We produce highly creative and competitive graphics under extremely tight deadlines. Daily/Weekly broadcasts include: Good Morning America, World News with David Muir, Nightline, 20/20, What Would You Do?, and This Week with George Stephanopoulos.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have strong motion graphics skills, as they will be assigned to work on projects or apprentice with show art directors. The goal of the internship is to identify and develop potential graphic artists with the high-level skillsets that are required to create network level designs. You will assist art directors, production assistants and graphic artists with daily production for ABC News Broadcasts; you will research photo services and stock imagery vendors; and pre-production of graphic elements is involved.

Basic Qualifications

-All candidates must be eligible to work in the US.
-All candidates must be at least 18 years old.
-All candidates must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class – OR – be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months – OR – be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program in order to qualify for this internship.
-Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
-All candidates must be available during the months of May/June through August/September for the 12-week program.
-All candidates must be available to work 40 hours/week.
-All candidates must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session.
-All candidates must provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship.
-Must be pursuing a BA in motion graphics design and/or design.
-Knowledge of motion graphics design and technology.
-Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
-Proficiency with Adobe Create Suite 6 including Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, etc.
-Must be a self-starter who is enthusiastic and engaged.

Preferred Qualifications

-Preferred Junior or Senior-level standing, or a recent graduate within 6 months of graduation date.
-Maxon Cinema 4D, Maya or other 3D software experience.

Graphic Design Packaging Intern (Summer 2016)

Design Services Intern

TED Talks is looking for a design intern to join a small team focused on delivering the best experiences possible across a wide range of platforms – our annual conferences, our editorial channels, our global distribution efforts, and much more. You’ll assist our visual designer on a wide range of projects both big and small.

Your primary tasks will involve helping to shape the visual strategy of our social media channels, and creating image assets for our Distribution team. We distribute TED Talks in a variety of formats and themes all over the world, and you will contribute to the design process of creating original artwork for these channels. Along with brainstorming artwork to accompany editorial concepts, you will assist the visual designer in logo explorations, help uphold robust brand guidelines, and contribute to designs for collateral supporting TED conferences, from programs to signage, posters, and more.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A multifaceted graphic design skill set you want to further develop.
  • Fluency in common design tools and applications. Much of the work will be digital, but print experience is highly desired, as is a love of typography, photography, and illustration.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. You understand the importance of keeping your files tidy at every stage of a project, from the beginning conceptual stages to the delivery of mechanicals.
  • Flexibility. TED is a fast-paced environment, and we jump quickly from project to project. You can keep up and thrive off the energy of working on something new.
  • A strong interest in social media.
  • You are earning or have just completed a BFA in Graphic Design or other related art/design degree. Fluency in another language is a plus.

Design ’16 is Up! Gallery Sitters Needed

The annual student design exhibition is up now at the Klapper Hall student gallery on the 4th floor. The show runs from February 8th through February 18th. It will be closed on Friday, February 12th. Please join us for an opening reception this Wednesday, February 10th from 5-7pm in the gallery space.

Please also know that we are still in need of students willing to sit in the space, so that the gallery can stay open on weekdays from 10am-5pm from now until next Thursday (with the exception of Friday the 12th). Please contact Professor Smith at ryan.smith@qc.cuny.edu to sign up. We’re looking for students to sign up for either morning blocks from 11am-1pm or afternoon blocks from 1pm-5pm. If you can commit to only part of these times, that works too.

Family Circle Art Intern – Winter/Spring 16

  • Job Description:
    Family Circle magazine is looking for an enthusiastic intern for the art department. We are seeking someone who is available 21 hours a week this winter/spring. The intern will attend department meetings, will work closely with the designers and photo editors to design front of book and back of book pages, and will also assist with photo research, circulating layouts, updating mini boards, and a few administrative tasks. The ideal candidate must be very organized, have excellent communication skills, a strong knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, and have the ability to work in MS Office programs. This is a hands-on experience to learn how a magazine is developed. This internship is paid and also accepts students who need school credit.
