The Abrams Children’s Division is seeking a design intern, summer 2016, to work closely with the design group on our list of picture books, novels, board books, novelty and non-fiction books for children ages 0 to 18. This individual should have an interest in current book design and learning more about the publishing process. They will work closely with the design staff – reading and evaluating books for design, laying out interior designs, learning to input text corrections and assisting on creative design projects.

Intern can expect to learn

Beyond design, the individual will interact with marketing, editorial and production departments, offering a broad introduction to the publishing world.

Constructive, an award-winning branding and design studio in Noho is looking for one exceptional design student to fill our 6 Month Design Apprenticeship. We are looking for a self-starter that can take guidance and run with it—a highly motivated and talented creative thinker who understands interactive and likes to jump in and solve problems. The ideal person has a great eye for design systems, understands typographic and layout fundamentals, and loves to explore the world of interactive design and coding techniques. Students must be comfortable in Adobe Creative Suite and understand the fundamentals of HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Experience or an interest in data visualization and illustration is a plus.

This is a paid apprenticeship, with compensation offered based on experience and bonuses based on performance. Our standard work week is 9:30AM to 6PM, Monday-Friday, with Summer Fridays cutting out at 1:30PM. This internship is available for June 1 start and runs through mid-December, 2016. The summer session must be full time, though we are willing to adjust to a part time schedule for the fall to accommodate students with class schedules. National holidays and academic breaks are observed, and paid personal time off is accrued on a monthly basis. Based on performance, there is potential for advancement to a full-time position once the apprenticeship concludes.

Harper’s Bazaar Magazine Art department Internship (unpaid)

Harper’s Bazaar magazine is offering unpaid internships in the Art/Design Department to dedicated students for the Summer semester of 2016. Applicants must be able to receive academic credit for the internship. Interns should have working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign and Photoshop. They should also be familiar with design terminology, fashion jargon, as well as some knowledge of the key photographers, artists, and influencers in the industry. Some processes you will learn will be: organizing the art flow, updating the “book” & “mini” wall for the Editor-in-Chief, and how to design front of book pages. Experience with Photoshop & InDesign is necessary, and a major relating to graphic design & interest in fashion is ideal. Internships are typically 2-3 days a week,

The One Club Annual Student Exhibition, NYC Creative Week 2016

Congratulations to Richard Aguilar, Fatimah Anwar, Ling Cheung, Ginine Gordon, Nick Harran, Freddy Japa, David M. Lajara, Alice Lee, Samantha Marshall, Alina Pena & Jiemin Yang whose work will be showcased in the upcoming One Club Annual Student Exhibition, NYC Creative Week.

The event is scheduled for Monday May 9, 2016 from 5pm-9pm at SLATE (54 W 21st St). The exhibition is a unique opportunity for the next generation of creatives to display their achievements to an audience of peers and prominent industry leaders. This year’s exhibition will be a digital show projected on large screens throughout the space.

There will be a special cocktail reception from 5-6pm on Monday, May 9th followed by King Kong of Ping Pong, where students from different institutions face of against top creatives from a variety of NYC agencies. All students are invited to attend!

Design Intern–Major League Baseball


    • Assist and produce graphic design elements in conjunction with appropriate MLB Fan Cave initiatives and consistent with their marketing plans including:
      • Communication and collateral materials
      • Exhibit environmental design
      • Event signage
      • Small space advertising
      • Newsletters, invitations and online graphics
      • Creation of creative communication presentation materials (i.e. slides, overheads, concept boards, product comps and presentation decks)
    • Assist in the development of design solutions including:

Internship Qualifications

  • Intern must be a rising or current junior, rising or current senior, graduate student, or recent graduate (within 6 months of graduation date) at an accredited college/university.
  • Applicants must have completed their sophomore year prior to the start of the internship.
  • Must have previous internship experience and/or participated in college clubs/organizations, and/or in-depth coursework in a related field
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States. Scripps Networks is unable to sponsor visas for interns. If you are an international student not already studying in the U.S. on an F-1 or J-1 visa, then you have to go through a university or an outside organization (internship placement agency) that will sponsor your visa.
  • Must have strong oral and written communications skills, as well as exceptional organization and planning skills

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Tasked to concept and create editorial designs for Food Network food-themed packages.
  • Work from wireframes and brand style guides to assist with Food Network site and app enhancements.
  • Assist with the creation of digital marketing materials that promote editorial packages across sites and apps and social media.
  • Assist with updating style guide
  • Assist with presentation building using Keynote or similar software.


  • Strong Adobe skills (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and be proficient in presentation software such as Keynote

Internship assignments are designed as real-world, real-contribution experiences. This is an excellent opportunity for college students or recent college graduates!

The Communications department is responsible for internal and external communications to union members, providers, and employers. The department handles all aspects of member communications including, elements from writing to design, and production to launch. The Graphic Design Intern may be involved in various aspects of the Communications department such as:

  • Work closely with staff on various design projects
  • Learn how to design within the parameters of brand identity
  • Learn how to and help make files press ready
  • Learn to create packaging for communications materials
  • Use InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator to create print, digital and web graphics


  • College undergraduate student currently enrolled in their Sophomore, Junior or Senior year with a Communications, Design, Graphic Design or related major. Or a recent college graduate with a degree in Communications, Design, Graphic Design or related major.
  • Basic skill level in Microsoft Word and Excel required
  • Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator skills required
  • Ability to work 21 hours per week; flexible hours Mon-Fri (9-5pm)
  • Retouching, editing videos in Premiere Pro and branding skills are a plus
  • Team player, self-starter, ability to multi-task, detail oriented with strong organizational skills and professional demeanor
