HBO 2016 Fall Intern: Consumer Marketing – Design & Production

HBO Design + Production is a diverse collective of artists, idea generators and problem solvers.

The Designer creates graphic applications for a variety of HBO/Cinemax print and digital collateral.
They assist in the creative process while producing final mechanicals for release. They have solid written and oral communication skills, good attention to detail and excellent time-management skills. The Designer provides creative solutions based on feedback from team members and business partners.

Portfolio submission required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in the design of a variety of projects:

  • Create work that demonstrates a strong sense of typography, layout and composition
  • Prepare files for print and web production
  • Transition between multiple projects while managing deadlines efficiently
  • Work independently as well as in a larger group
  • Think creatively and love to learn and share ideas

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work 15 hours/week in NY office
  • Have great fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Detail-oriented and have a conscientious approach to the work
  • Should be a conceptual designer, able to convey ideas through design
  • Must be able to work at least 15 hours a week
  • Must be professional, responsible, and accountable- no exceptions

CNN Intern Fall 2016 (paid) – CNN.com Photo Desk

Work with the Photography Department for CNN Digital in addition to develop imagery for larger projects. Produce photo galleries and essays for CNN Digital and CNN Photos blog. Gather and create relevant images, graphics, and other interactive elements to enhance stories, as requested by assignment producers, the design department, editorial, and other staff members. Monitor satellite feeds and other sources for the latest video and images available to keep stories fresh and updated. Perform research to support staff members in producing stories. Requirements:

  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

  • Must have completed their sophomore year in college prior to the start of the internship.

CNN Intern Fall 2016 (paid) – Digital Studios Production

The Digital Studios Production intern will assist with video equipment management, video workflow improvements and the production of original video. This internship position will be an opportunity to learn a wide range of skills over the course of the program.

Tasks may include:

  • Assist in the management, basic maintenance and organization of video gear
  • Help design and build studio sets for in-house productions
  • Research new technology/equipment that will improve prove the production/post-production processes
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise with video gear, editing systems/hardware and other production equipment
  • Assist in the general organization of the office to ensure productions can happen seamlessly

CNN Fall Internships (paid)- Motion Graphics

CNN Intern Fall 2016 – Motion Graphics

The Motion Graphics intern for The Video Development Group in New York will assist Designers and Producers with graphics and animations for all CNN digital platforms. The Video Development Group is split into two primary units, focusing on daily turn news & feature content, as well as longer-lead series. This internship position will spend time with both units, creating an opportunity to learn a wide range of skills over the course of the program. The intern may assist with the following: animate video package elements – including opens, lower thirds, and text on screen – help craft smart and engaging explainer videos, explore sound design and editing in Adobe Premiere, mask photos and rotoscope video, as well as research and asset gathering.

What do we need from you?
Candidates should be passionate about news, self-motivated, able to multitask, have a good attitude, and be able to function well in fast paced, high volume environment. Candidates should also have the following:

  • Must be proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects
  • Illustration Skills, knowledge in Adobe Premiere and Cinema 4D a plus
  • Must have a good eye for typography
  • Strong portfolio showing a range of different styles
  • Strong interest in original video storytelling for an online audience
