The Public Theater is seeking a part-time Graphics assistant to join our small in-house team of designers. Must be available 2-3 days a week. Position is available NOW, through December, with potential to extend through spring.
The Public is a nonprofit theater based on the principle that culture belongs to everyone and artists are a force for change. We have a very diverse range of programming that is radical at the center and speaks to the important issues of today. Our visual branding was established by the legendary Paula Scher of Pentagram, who we continue to work closely with. It is a bold, typography-driven identity that is a lot of fun to work with.
The Public’s Graphics Department is responsible for creating everything that visually represents The Public, including but not limited to: posters, programs, postcards, stationery, web content, e-blasts, animations, lobby projection graphics, flyers, advertisements, merchandise, signage, etc.
Candidates should not only be very skilled with typography, but have a passion for making a statement with it (this is the essence of our identity). Must be a hard-working self-starter who will innovate and push for new solutions. Interest in Shakespeare a plus.

Harper’s Bazaar magazine is offering unpaid internships in the Art/Design Department to dedicated students for the Fall semester of 2016. Applicants must be able to receive academic credit for the internship. Interns should have working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign and Photoshop. The Graphic Design Intern will aid two departments at BBC Worldwide North America in creating visual assets. For the Communications & Events team, the intern will create graphics and design layouts for print ads, event signage and invites, and email banners. For the BBC.com Audience Development team, the intern will create marketing assets (e.g. display banners) and also contribute to the BBC.com features editorial team’s visual journalism efforts by creating social media 2D animations (e.g. annotated images, static infographics, etc.). Must have prior experience creating graphics and solid grasp of design concepts and is comfortable working in Adobe Creative Suite.
