Job Description
Are you obsessed with logos? Have a Tumblr? Take street style photos in your spare time? We’re looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working, and creative design intern to join our creative team at our NYC office.

Qualifications:
Must be able to intern for at least 2 days a week
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign is a must.
Retouching and resizing photos, solid knowledge of the path tool
Strong eye and high taste level aesthetically
A healthy addiction to the internet, fashion, and pop culture
Must be team-oriented, responsive, and comfortable collaborating in a positive manner
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment on multiple projects

Executing creative concepts
Understanding the scope of a project and articulating ideas
Developing mood boards, sketches and design explorations
Designing layouts and mock-ups from briefs
Designing webpages, cobrands, banner advertising, images, and jpgs
Designing logotypes, logos and icons
Designing print collateral and other offline pieces (packaging, merchandise)
Working on revisions from design team and departmental feedback
Creating production ready files for all work

Requirements:
• Candidate must own Adobe Creative Suite and be proficient in Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
• 10AM-6PM (2-5 days at the office)
• Strong sense of typography, layout and color
• Studied or is studying graphic design and art with a portfolio
• Reliable, efficient, and ready to jump in with 100% effort
• Should have excellent attention to details
• Organized and self-motivated
• Must know how to use Dropbox and Google Drive

Intern can expect to learn

I offer a high energy, challenging and fast-paced work environment in which talented candidates can truly flourish and learn about all aspects of graphic design and the business behind it. You will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with the head of the company and closely assist with multiple projects and work with various clients. You will experience a variety of projects including but not limited to: web design, logo design, branding and identity, editorial, illustrations, photography and more. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign are mandatory in order to be considered for the position.

I am looking for an ambitious, passionate, driven, organized, efficient and focused individual that will work hard while at the office. You should have enthusiasm for design and a creative eye. A big part of this internship is to learn, so don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek help.

PUBLIC THEATER GRAPHICS ASSISTANT (paid internship)

The Public Theater is seeking a part-time Graphics assistant to join our small in-house team of designers. Must be available 2-3 days a week. Position is available NOW, through December, with potential to extend through spring.

The Public is a nonprofit theater based on the principle that culture belongs to everyone and artists are a force for change. We have a very diverse range of programming that is radical at the center and speaks to the important issues of today. Our visual branding was established by the legendary Paula Scher of Pentagram, who we continue to work closely with. It is a bold, typography-driven identity that is a lot of fun to work with.

The Public’s Graphics Department is responsible for creating everything that visually represents The Public, including but not limited to: posters, programs, postcards, stationery, web content, e-blasts, animations, lobby projection graphics, flyers, advertisements, merchandise, signage, etc.

Candidates should not only be very skilled with typography, but have a passion for making a statement with it (this is the essence of our identity). Must be a hard-working self-starter who will innovate and push for new solutions. Interest in Shakespeare a plus.

Harper’s Bazaar Art/Design Fall Internship (unpaid)

  • Harper’s Bazaar magazine is offering unpaid internships in the Art/Design Department to dedicated students for the Fall semester of 2016. Applicants must be able to receive academic credit for the internship. Interns should have working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign and Photoshop. They should also be familiar with design terminology, fashion jargon, as well as some knowledge of the key photographers, artists, and influencers in the industry.

    Some processes you will learn will be: organizing the art flow, updating the “book” & “mini” wall for the Editor-in-Chief, and how to design front of book pages.

BBC Worldwide Graphic Design Intern (unpaid)

The Graphic Design Intern will aid two departments at BBC Worldwide North America in creating visual assets. For the Communications & Events team, the intern will create graphics and design layouts for print ads, event signage and invites, and email banners. For the BBC.com Audience Development team, the intern will create marketing assets (e.g. display banners) and also contribute to the BBC.com features editorial team’s visual journalism efforts by creating social media 2D animations (e.g. annotated images, static infographics, etc.). Must have prior experience creating graphics and solid grasp of design concepts and is comfortable working in Adobe Creative Suite. Intern may also be required to aid in special department projects as needed. Please include sample of design work in application.

Internship at Non-profit Arts Organization, MORE ART

MORE ART commissions public art and develop free educational programs for NYC artists and the general public of all ages—with a focus on art + social justice.
