Design Internship Opportunity

Len Small, former teaching adjunct at Queens College, has asked me to distribute this posting to Queens College students. This internship comes with a small stipend for intern’s time, and some flexibility with schedule.

Description
Nautilus, a new online science magazine, is looking for a part-time design intern to work 2-3 days per week on graphic design and art production. The ideal candidate will be interested in gaining experience in Design, Illustration, Marketing, User Experience, and Web Design.

Nautilus is a new digital science magazine that examines issues through the lenses of multiple disciplines, such as biology, physics, anthropology, mythology, and technology. We do this through a multitude of mediums, including the written word, audio, video and, of course, art. The online magazine will debut in April 2013.

Specific Skills
– Superior communication and interpersonal skills
– Proficiency in using graphic design software Adobe Suite. HTML, interactive, and mobile platform knowledge is a plus, but not required.
– Exceptional attention to detail
– Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
– Ability to work and prioritize work assignments

Learning opportunities
An intern should expect hands-on experience working with a content-driven website, communicating with the art director, staff, illustrators and writers, as well as gaining experience in current design software and web design practices.
